Diabetes has a significant impact on Texas health, with increasing prevalence since the 1990s and higher rates than the national average. Vulnerable groups, such as older adults, racial/ethnic minorities, and those with lower education levels, are disproportionately affected. Diabetes prevalence varies across Texas counties. As high-risk groups are projected to drive population growth through 2050, diabetes prevalence may continue to rise. This brief utilizes health, demographic, and geographic data to highlight the most impacted populations and areas in Texas.
